The Foreigner and The Ladybug
Attending Cirque du Soleil has become a family favorite, especially here in El Paso. In their honor, a mural was created and presented Tuesday in downtown El Paso. The bugs were even spotted at the El Paso Public Library downtown a couple of days ago! I’m not a fan of bugs but…the “Ovo” bugs are an exception! Many “Ovo” bugs are extremely colorful, athletic and funny!
I had the opportunity to attend Cirque Du Soleil’s “Ovo” Wednesday evening at the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP). Ovo means egg in Portuguese. I’ve been to other Cirque Du Soleils but “Ovo” seemed to have me clapping and dancing along to the beats the most. The soundtrack has a lot of percussion, samba and bossa nova tunes in it. How could I not dance to their short rendition of “La Cucaracha?” “Ovo” can sort of be described as a colorful and fun Brazilian carnival. Although there’s several ants, crickets…
