PROTESTE pede ao Ministério Público Federal apuração dessa prática abusiva por onerosidade excessiva.

O reajuste elevado dos planos de saúde na última faixa etária antes da pessoa completar 60 anos acaba expulsando esses consumidores cada vez mais cedo, por ficarem sem condições de arcar com o custo. A PROTESTE Associação de Consumidores considera esta situação um abuso e está pedindo ao Ministério Público Federal a investigação dessa prática para proteger consumidores lesados.
Como as empresas não podem reajustar por faixa etária após os 60 anos, por causa do Estatuto do Idoso, as operadoras concentram esses aumentos na faixa de 50 até 59 anos, por exemplo. “Apesar de legal, essa prática onera demais, principalmente nessa situação de crise econômica, e a pessoa fica sem condições de arcar com os novos valores”,explica Maria Inês Dolci, coordenadora institucional da PROTESTE.

I attended a fundraiser for Hearing Health Foundation a few years ago where Cyndi Lauper performed. At first, I was surprised at the choice of a rocker. Wouldn’t the music be too loud? Was that the kind of message a hearing loss organization should send? My worry was misplaced. The volume level was fun, but also safe, and Cyndi put on a great show.

I’m not sure Cyndi knew what to make of the reduced volume level though. “I don’t know why they asked me to play the music so quietly,” she said to the crowd in all seriousness, “since they can’t hear well, I thought they would ask me to play it louder!”

This statement made me laugh out loud, especially since she delivered it in her characteristic accent and style, but it has stayed with me all these years, because it is such a common misnomer — that making something louder solves…
